10^th Sept 24: In a dazzling showcase of badminton talent, over 400 gifted young players from every corner of Ranchi took center stage at the 8th edition of the PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship 2024. This eagerly anticipated sporting spectacle culminated today in a thrilling finale at the prestigious Khel Gaon Sports Complex where 9 budding badminton champions emerged victorious in their respective categories.

The audience witnessed exceptional games across various age groups. In the Boys Singles Under 9 category, Suresh Dahanga triumphed over Mohammad Shajid Raja with a score of 10-15, 15-9 & 15-10, while in the Girls Singles Under 9, Nandita Gope defeated Divyanshi Prakash with a score of 15-6 15-11.

In the Boys Singles Under 11 category, Manprit Parjapati emerged victorious against Sankalp Singh with a score of 15-13 & 15-13, and in the Girls Singles Under 11 category, Prerna Shome outperformed Saanvi Rasiniha with a score of 15-6 & 15-5.

The Boys Singles Under 13 category saw Prince Kumar defeating Samvith Ramesh with a score of 17-15 & 15-13 in a thrilling match. In the Girls Singles Under 13 category, Kavya Kiran secured a commanding win against Namrata Toppo with a score of 15-4 & 15-7, establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with.

In the Boys Singles Under 15 category, Shreeram Ratan secured a comprehensive victory against Amit Oraon with a score of 15-8 & 15-13. Meanwhile, Kavya Kiran emerged victorious in the Girls Singles Under 15 category with a strong performance against Puja Kumari with a score of 13-15, 15-6 & 15-8.

The Boys Singles Under 17 category featured Ashu Gopal who claimed victory over Mohit Raj with a score of 13-15, 15-6 & 19-17 while in the Girls Singles Under 17 category Pihu Singh beat Anu Shrishti Oraon with a score of 15-6 & 15-10.

The closing ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Shri. Rajesh Jha, Circle Marketing Head, Punjab National Bank, Mr. Kartikesh Kumar Mishra, Chief Insurance Manager, Mr. Shashi Ranjan, Chief Insurance Manager, Mr. N.K. Dey, District Secretary, Ranchi & Ms. Uma Palit, Former International Player and Senior Coach at Khelgaon Sports Complex. They presented the victorious young athletes with the prestigious JBC Trophy, acknowledging their remarkable achievements.

This world record is a testament to the championship's consistent growth, exceptional organization, and the immense participation it attracts from young badminton enthusiasts across the country.

The event has garnered support from prominent figures in Indian badminton, including Satwik Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Prakash Padukone, Ashwini Ponnappa, Vimal Kumar, and Chetan Anand. These icons lend their expertise to the JBC Boot Camp, an innovative online badminton academy that provides invaluable insights and techniques to help young players refine their skills.
