Purulia, West Bengal, March 27: PNB MetLife, in collaboration with the Center for Environmental and Socio-economic Regeneration (CESR), today inaugurated solar-powered water points in Madhupur village, Purulia district, marking a major step toward enhancing access to clean water. This initiative will benefit over 300 tribal families by providing a sustainable water source with a capacity of approximately 10,000 liters of clean water a day.

Villagers previously needed to walk up to 2.5 kilometers to fetch water. The newly-installed water sources offer a reliable and ecofriendly solution, reducing dependence on conventional power sources and easing the daily burden of water collection. Representatives from PNB MetLife, Bangiya Gramin Vikash Bank and CESR joined local Panchayat members and residents of Madhupur to celebrate this significant milestone in community development.

PNB MetLife’s Damini CSR program has been supporting underprivileged adolescent tribal girls in Purulia by raising menstrual health awareness, facilitating access to sanitary napkins through donation drives and vending machines, conducting periodic health check-ups, and empowering local change agents. The installation of solar-powered water points further strengthens these initiatives by ensuring better hygiene practices and enhancing overall sanitation standards for young girls and the wider community.
